Aaaaahhhhhh.....yes yes YES.

What a day. F*ck*ng get in. First proper decent UK wind I've sailed in months.

Planned two sessions today if the wind held, before and after high tide. Session 1: 10.30am-1pm. Started off with the 5.9 cos it looked a tad light. Still was nicely powered though, and after a few runs had to come in to change down fins. As always happens after changing down - wind dropped. For 5-10 mins I was seriously blobbing and very pissed off.

But then.....WHAM! As if she'd been fumbling around blindly in the dark for the wind switch, Mother Nature must have suddenly found it, and she definitely didn't hesitate in turning it to ON!!!! Suddenly was mucho mucho overpowered. In again to change down to the 5.2. Plus wind was now more cross-shore and the sun had come out - GET IN!

On the water again, and WTF I'm still overpowered!!! But it was ALL GOOD, charging around, sailing really well, planing out of gybes on the OUTSIDE ffs, and a couple of very nice jumps, one which was Mahussive and I fully planed out of it (albeit the landing was a tad flat).

Really was too overpowered to carry on like this though, so back in again to change to the 4.5 and wave board. Out again, and I'm still bloody overpowered. It's 4.0 weather now. Flattened the 4.5 right off, but then it all went a bit tong. Dunno if I'd set it too flat, or if the wind dropped a touch, but couldn't get going now, and ended the session drifting and the now regular walk of shame to finish.

With hindsight the best bit of the session was definitely the half-hour on the 5.2. If I'd had a 5.0 or 4.7 to rig instead of the 5.2 I'd have been able to stay out on that, and ding dong surely t'would have been a 5 star session. But the crap bit at the end, plus so many time-wasting kit changes, means it only(!) gets 4.
